December 1st is Upon Us

I’m sure as most of the frequent readers can tell, my posting has slowed way down. Again this comes down to having not read or watched anything lately (though I am watching Mandalorian!). Work has a large part to do with that. Even today, I’m working 12-9. Though now that school is over, Jessica and I are rearranging the house and cleaning up in preparations for the holiday. We know were getting a new mattress and dresser so it is time to readjust. When we get home and clean a little, we are typically tired and ready for bed. God willing, we will be done in a week or so and back on the Youtube and Blog grind. I have done a few things with my free time I will post about in the coming days. They just are not Manga or Anime related. We are also bracing for maybe an even crazier 2021 and trying to make sure all preparations on that front are made. Who knows what the future holds after all!

Alright everyone. Again, I just wanted to make an update post and try to get back in the swing of posting regularly again. It is always good to do a recharge post! I’ll see you guys in the coming day!

As always thanks for reading and have a great day!

200th Post Celebration Part 3!

We are back at it. Maybe this will be the finale. We will see!

Read Part 1 Here!

Read Part 2 Here!

So, last time we left off we were wondering if all that moving, new space and office would provide a spark for the blog. Let’s revisit the summer of 2016.

I moved around April 6th. I did not make a post until July! So, yeah. So much for a renewed energy. I got a reason though. Once I moved in to my Dad’s pool house, I started working for him in construction. The work was not bad. I got up at 6am and rode with him to the job sites and we worked until about 6pm or later. I mostly did clean up and carrying materials that they would need. The bad part is the sun. I am pretty pale and get heat headaches very badly. Most days when I got home I would shower and go to bed. The pay was good and I could not complain. It was brutal on me though just for the headaches.

Finally in July, Pokemon Sun and Moon started releasing previews for their Pokemons. I loved this little segment of reviewing new Pokemons. Back than I gave Cutiefly’s name a 1 out of 10. The name has since grown on me, but it is still a bleh Pokemon.

In October, the world would be introduced to one of the best 3D Platformers of all time. Super Mar… A Hat in Time. What a great time to be a Platforming fan. A Hat in Time at the start of the month and Super Mario Odyssey at the end. Now, I wont revisit everything in this post. I think I am going to do a life review or something like that in the future. However, for now, let’s just look at the post themselves.

To no one’s surprise, I’m sure, 2016 was considerably worse than 2015. Despite the daily blogs of January, view counts and visitors fell. However, comments and likes picked up the slack. 2017 was an utter disaster. I made 3 post that whole year. Youtube was in full swing and I thought I would have to pay 60 bucks to post again, plus school. So, I just did not post a lot. 2018 was meant to be a resurgence. I made 12 post, mostly about video games, sales, and Youtube. If 2017 was bad, 2019 was weird. I made 4 of my favorite post that year. I also only made 4 post that whole year. Dr. Stone review, My Hero Academia Vol. #2 review, Girlish Number Episode #1 review and a post about Sword and Shield. However, I used that momentum I was able to generate to propel us into easily the best year of the blog ever, 2020. Yes how ironic the blog is doing amazingly this year of all years. haha. Check out the stats:

2015: 616 Views. 367 Visitors. 64 Likes. 26 Comments

2016: 556 Views. 322 Visitors. 120 Likes. 104 Comments.

2017: 245 Views. 113 Visitors. 8 Likes. 3 Comments.

2018: 552 Views. 249 Visitors. 17 Likes. 9 Comments.

2019: 292 Views. 201 Visitors. 6 Likes. 0 Comments.

2020: 1,376 Views. 975 Visitors. 77 Likes. 8 Comments.

2020 is on pace to triple views and visitors. In the early days of the blogs, I had some really good readers who liked and commented on most stuff. Nowadays, I still have some really good regulars (you know who you are guys!) who like a lot of my post but do not really comment a lot. That is fine. I am just glad people are reading my stuff. It keeps me going aside from my love of blogging. Let’s look at some of the post specifically.

Top 5 post of 2016 (not counting the welcome or home page, this will be true of all years.): Relife Volume #1 review, Happy Pokemon Day, Top Five Cards in BFZ, Manaphy Giveaway, and Food Wars Season #1 Review.

In 2017, Pokemon Day was the only post to crack double digits. It and Relife review were the only post to crack the top 5 views in 2016 and 2017. Food Wars cracked the top 5 in 2015 and 2016 but missed it in 2017 (it did not get 1 view all year… Ouch).

2018: Spread Awareness was number one followed by, Episode #1 of Yooka-Laylee, A Hat in Time DLC release, Top 5 Pokemon From Kanto I Never Used But Wanted To, and Pokemon Day. Spread Awareness being #1 is a total underdog story. That post was made in 2015 and it surged to the top. Pokemon Day cracks the top 5 3 years in a row.

2019: The Cat Returns Movie Review was number #1 this year. A Hat Time Review was two, Dr. Stone was three, Pokemon Day climbed to 4, and Girlish Number review snuck into the top 5. I really liked my Dr. Stone review and wished it would have been number #1, but oh well. Pokemon Day cracks the top 5 again. What grit!

2020 is not over yet, but let’s look at how things are shaping up: I’m Standing on A Million Live’s has a commanding lead for #1 at 151 views! Somali and the Forest Spirit review has a good hold on #2 with 71 views. Girlish Number is safely in 3rd with 66 views. Tower of God Episode #2 review and Manga Monday Tokyo Ghoul review are tied at 4 with 33 views. In 6th place as a dark horse is Dr. Stone at 31 views. This year has been amazing. I am so happy to see these post, which have been some of my favorites, getting the views. A Million Lives is not only the fastest post of ours to get to 100 views, it is the only non home page non welcome page to get to over 100 views. Welcome is at 1,087 and Home Page is at 980. Girlish Number is next with 73 views. For those of you wondering, Happy Pokemon Day is only at 10 views this year. That ranks 13th on the year.

I hope you guys liked a look back at the last 4 years of posting between the first 100 post and the 2nd 100th post. With any luck, we will be at 300 post some point next year. I cannot wait to recap stats again when that time comes.

Thank you guys for reading, as always. Have a great day! I will see you guys in the next one.

200th Post Celebration Part 2!

Okay, here is part 2 finally. There may or may not be a part 3 just depending on factors.

Part #1: 200th Post Celebration Part 1!

This took so long because I wanted to go and reread those old post and really put myself in my former shoes. I try to be open and catalogue parts of my life. So, without further ado, let us relive those glory days.

Daily Blog For February 2016- I was not kidding about it taking 4 years to do another 100 post. We followed up the roaring success of the Daily Blog Challenge of January Pokemon Theme with an utter disaster, Legend of Zelda. Now Zelda is not the reason it was a disaster. The reasons were plenty abound. For starters, I was playing Pokemon almost daily back than. So needless to say, daily post about Pokemon were so easy. Zelda, I was really relying on nostalgia. Topics were not easy to come by and memories were not really rolling out either. Secondly, school. School was brutal. I started attending a community college in my home county Spring of 2015. I moved in the Summer of 15 and began taking online classes that summer as well. I did so poorly over that next year (Summer 15, Fall 15 and Spring 16), though dates blur a little. I fell really behind and daily blogs began suffering as a result.

Secondly, I got a job as a substitute teacher. What a weird time in my life, truly. I did not work much for the 4 or so months I was eligible to work. However, I went to bed before midnight every night and woke at 6 am everyday just waiting for a teacher to call out. It rarely happened. I mean, really rare. I subbed maybe 4 times in 4 months. It was probably more than that but I do not remember more than that. Honestly, one day I woke at 6am and waited by the phone. It finally rang (though it was a text, it is more dramatic to say rang). I answered the call (text). I got dressed and was there until about 4pm. When I got off I had to go babysit at Jessica’s grandmother’s house. She worked the night shift and did not get off until midnight. I got home that night around 2am. I got up at 6am waiting for the phone to ring again. That was kind of just what I did until I gave up on getting calls. In April, I moved back to my hometown and got probably 2 calls a day, no joke, asking me to sub. I did not even have a phone at this time (Jessica broke it.). That was one reason I would miss out occasionally. Jessica was at work and before she could respond, they would have already filled the role.

Yeah, I went into a sort of depressing lull during this time. First, Dollar General did not put me in their system to transfer. Than, I got grazed over for subbing (though ultimately they would pick me up). Next there was the Gamestop employment scenario where Gamestop hired me and never worked me once. Boy did that feel like a mirage. My parents were really getting frustrated with me but it was hard finding work at this time. I helped babysit everywhere I could. I helped Jessica’s parents, her grandmother, I even would go 40 minutes back home to help babysit just to try and make money. I also got sick during this time and it took forever to get over what I had.

So, Daily Post took a big L. I also hyped up 3 big projects. Let’s look at those. The first one was a forum. The forum is still active but it is hardly alive. See for yourself, https://dahubbz.proboards.com/ You cannot blame me. I was channeling my inner middle school love for forums. I got comments from several regulars. I’m not sure if any actually followed over there. Needless to say, once blogging took a hit, so did the forum. Plus, kids today love discord. Commenters on my YouTube channel ask for discord, so maybe one day.

Which gets me to my next point, I started a Youtube channel! I kept telling myself I was going to so by gally, I did. It was wild. I was unemployed and could not find work. Jessica and I agreed a Blue Yeti was unreasonable right now. I spent one day watching videos about budget mics and finally picked the Samson Go for 30 bucks and used OBS to screen record. Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier are expensive, we were able to buy a life deal license for AVS video editing. That held us over until my brother got me a code for Vegas 14 for Christmas. Now I am onto Vegas 15. Back than though it was not great but it was enough to get us by. Watch our first video here. Here’s an example of a newer video

Up next was all the update post about Pokemon Sun and Moon. I was working with my dad when this game came out so I had some money. I bought Jessica and myself each a copy of Sun and Moon when they came out. We did not have capture cards so we recorded a make shift episode #1, laying in bed, both of us starting our new adventures. I don’t recall if we ever aired this episode.

And than, oh boy. Nintendo would unveil to the whole world The Nintendo NX! It amazes me we even had these questions (pulled directly from my blog in 2016) “What do you guys think of this new console? Will it reinvent the home console? Do you believe it is just a gimmick? Will this revitalize Nintendo or officially run them out of business.” However, the Wii U was considered the dark days but I braved it better than almost anyone and was rewarded with one of my favorite consoles ever, The Nintendo Switch.

Let’s back up and revisit the drought as I dubbed it. Daily blogs wrapped up on Feb. 20. 4 post would dribble out between than and March 14th. An update post. On March 14th I was still complaining about being sick. That sickness stuck with me and kicked my butt. Once this took me out and sub spots never existed I would sleep half the day. I also blame being unmotivated. I said I waited to the last minute and the quality was bad. This is still sort of true. Now, instead of it being almost entirely from a place of almost depression (though I will hesitate to use that word.), it comes from craving being productive in my real life. I take 6 classes and work 20-30 hours. Trust me, I am not bragging. It is more so to do with the fact I am a bad college student and balancing 6 classes during Covid is crazy hard for someone like me. I kick myself when I go to write a post, read a book, or play a game when I could be doing school. As a result, I don’t always have something to talk about.

Than I moved! April 6th I believe (maybe the 5th). That day changed my life. Things were getting bad for our mood and overall mental health. We had to move. We needed new work opportunities, no more online classes, more space, and, most importantly, a change in scenery. I already had a room picked out for an office and I was so excited for the new energy and what that would mean for the blog and channel.

Was I right or wrong about that energy? Find out in part 3. I never meant for this to be a multipart series but I have been enjoying reliving everything and reflecting. It is kind of the point of the blog now. Tomorrow I have class at 10:50 and than work until 9pm most likely. So, maybe I’ll make a post Thursday when I am off again? Really not sure.

Have a great day guys and thanks for reading!

Games I’ve Played Recently #2

Hey guys. I’ll probably make an update post very soon and than hopefully more post to follow. I figured I would give you guys a sneak peek at a future youtube video I’m making. This is Games I’ve Played Recently #2. If you have not read the first one, feel free to do that here.

Wario World (Gamecube)- First up is Wario World, a very fun transformational entry in a normally 2D franchise. Wario Games ever since the Gameboy were 2D side scrolling platformers. Even the modern iterations on DS and Wii were 2D, I believe. Wario Word on Gamecube is a huge jump into the third dimension where you play as everyone’s favorite Italian plumber desperately trying to reclaim his stolen treasures. One of my favorite parts of this game is how there are warp doors that take you to separate stages that are strictly platforming. These are fun, challenging and creative all at the same time. At its heart, the game is a very thematical platform collect-a-thon.

PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure (Wii)– Here’s a game I’ve wanted for about 5 years. I finally decided to take the plunge. I was really worried I overhyped this game. Believe it or not, I actually really liked Hey You, Pikachu on N64 but I cannot find my mic. So I needed my Pikachu fix. With updated graphics, better controls, a more extensive roster of Pokemons, pretty settings, and fun mini games. This game is living up to hype. Hopefully it continues to be awesome through the whole game.

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door (Gamecube)- Growing up, this was a game I held in high esteem. I put it up there with Ocarina of Time, Bioshock, and Mario Galaxy as one of my favorite of all time. I’ve only revisited it sparingly in my adult life because I just dont care for RPGs anymore. However, after completing the first chapter, I can say my childhood Nostalgia is not letting me down. The combat is still the traditional combat we all know and love from the early years of Paper Mario, the partners are great, the dialogue is really well written, and the worlds are fun to explore.

A Hat in Time (PC)- perhaps the game most synonymous with this channel. I’ve been playing a good bit of mods including challenge road, a Halloween special, and a new modded episode coming out very soon (That modded episode is out now. Check it out here). Check them all out!

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (Gamecube)- I’ve always been on the fence about this series. I played Colosseum a lot as a kid but never beat it. I finally bought Gale of Darkness over the summer and I’ve been playing this a lot when I go for runs on my exercise bike machine as it is a great time killer. The story is interesting enough, I love the atmosphere of Gamecube games, converting the dark Pokemons is fun, and you never know what you’ll catch next. I’m really digging this one.

So there you have it. These are the games I’m playing. Let me know what I should be on the look out for next!

Thanks for reading and have a great day everybody!

200th Post Celebration Part 1

We hit 200 post a week or two ago. Let’s reflect on how the blog has done since its first 100 post.

Disclaimer: This is part 1 where we reflect on post 1-100. Part 2 will look at later post. It may be multiple parts just due to the nature of the beast. All Links seen in this post should lead directly to the post they are referring to. None should be spam or anything of that nature.

It did not take me long to reach 100 post. We wrote our first post on June 9th, 2015. Almost 7 short months later we hit 100 post. Some of the highlights from that era were:
Food Wars Season 1 Review. This post exploded in the first year getting a huge 37 views! It paced all non-home page post by a total of 9 grand spanking views. This review was a big deal at the time. I enjoyed a lot of post I was doing at this time, but to me this one was the game changer. I had not reviewed a whole season of an anime up to this point. This one gave me confidence moving forward.

Top Five Animes You Should Watch This Summer This was another hype post. I was just falling back in love with anime after what felt like a forever hiatus. I watched some animes that I absolutely enjoyed. Amagi Brilliant Park, Death Parade, and Parasyte (just so I do not spoil the whole list in case you want to read it for yourself!) were animes that really commanded my attention. I watched them all in such close proximity that, instead of reviewing them separately, I just lumped them all into one review. I need to rewatch some and give them proper reviews.

We did a review for every episode 1 of the summer of 15 animes. Ushio and Tora, Gate, Monster Musume, Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers and I think Charlotte was also a part of this group. God-Eater got delayed to kingdom come if I recall right and I was not ready to jump into Dragon Ball Z Super. There’s a chance I’ve gotten some things mixed up. I feel like Gangsta also came out around this time? Summer animes were hyped. Rokka was actually our most viewed post that summer with 15 views. Even with all those hyped animes, Monster Musume was the one Jessica and I actually finished. That’s kind of insane.

That show I think actually challenged me to write out of my comfort zone. I love anime and Japanese culture, but I find the idea of sexualizing half woman half mythical creatures a bit odd. Still, I initially went to college for Film and Television and minored in Film Studies. I challenged myself to dig deeper past the objectifying woman and find some actual symbolism and meaning. I think I did that. I remember being proud of that post.

We also did a raise awareness series each month to spotlight a different awarenesses. I use to work in a Dollar General and in September we started selling Breast Cancer Awareness pens. Now, I certainly believe Breast Cancer is an absolutely appalling evil that no human should ever have to suffer from. Yet, September is Prostate Cancer Awareness (to name one of the potential many awarenesses.). There was no sign of blue pens anywhere. So, I did the only thing a blogger could do. I spoke out. Here’s an excerpt from my post.

If the stores around your area are like mine, you will never see that little blue ribbon. That’s a shame. September 3rd and there’s already pink Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons and shirts set up in some stores, which is great. I discovered this last year when I was working at Dollar General and we started selling Breast Cancer Awareness pens at the counter at the start of September. I asked the manager on duty why don’t we sell Prostate Awareness month merchandise. She did not know. Again this year, I see no Prostate Awareness Month merchandise.

5 years later and I do not remember seeing any blue ribbons. It is still a shame.

Lastly, I would be absolutely remised if I did not speak on the daily challenge in January. One of the biggest reasons we hit 100 post so fast. We got at least 31 post in that month alone. We had a lot of fun with post such Top Five Type Pairings That Need To Happen, What Occupation Would I have, and Which Region Had the Best Starters. Those are all included if you click the January 2016 link. The most popular post from that stint was What Is Your Favorite Pokemon Evolution Line with I believe had 7 or 8 views.

Well, that does it for part 1. Honestly, this wasn’t meant to be a two parter. However, this is the first time I really got a chance to fall down the rabbit hole of past me so I indulged in the opportunity. I will try my hardest to have part 2 out tomorrow, but Tuesdays are always interesting.

Again thanks for reading this post. If you’ve read the old post from 2015 and 2016, maybe consider revisiting them? If you are new, perhaps go give an old classic a chance?

Anway, that is it for me. Have a great day! And be on the look out for part 2 very soon.

Spooky Week Recap

Oh, boy. I really wanted Spooky Week to catch fire. However, between work and school, I fell behind on Monday right from the start. I reviewed Noblesse on Sunday to start. However, I wanted to read Deathnote Volume #1 for Manga Monday. I couldn’t find my manga. So, I tried to read Demon Slayer Volume #1 on Tuesday. However, between class and school. I left my house at 10am and got home at about 9pm. So, I wasn’t able to read it.

From there, my goal was to savage it Friday. I did my Top 5 Creepiest Pokemon on Friday. I wanted to do another Anime review on Saturday. Sadly, I was not able to do that.

So, I probably wont do anything really specific until after the school semester.

Either way, maybe we will try again next year.

Thank you for reading! Have a great day!

Top Five Creepiest Pokedex Entry/Pokemons.

Happy Early Halloween! Today, we will be addressing just who are the creepiest, scariest, and downright dreadful Pokemons. This will be inspired by designs, actions, and lore all created from the game, show, and Pokedex entry alike. I hope you guys enjoy!

#5 Banette

Banette (Pokémon) - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia

Banette makes this list solely on the back of Pokedex entry. “A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it.” Personally, I have never cared for Banette as a Pokemon. I normally don’t go for the whole “doll come to life” storyline. However, there is no denying that that angle is enough to freak people out. As a kid, I wanted to get in on the Goosebumps hype. The book I tried to read was Night of the Living Dummy 3 (even though this was probably a decade and a half ago, I still remember the cover. haha) I don’t know if the book was actually scary or if I just was so not into creepy stuff that I never bothered finishing it. Either way, I can respect people’s fear of Banette.

#4 Yamask

James - Anime Character Biography - Serebii.net

Yamask is plenty creepy on their own. However, they are not really that scary. Yet, their lore and backstory is as sad as it is eerie. The mask that Yamask carry with them are believed to be their faces. It is also said that they look at their former faces and cry. Again, this entry is more sad than terrifying, but I think it is enough to be creepy.

#3 Phanthump

Shiny Phantump after 103 Eggs! | Shiny Pokemon Amino Amino

Phanthump is definitely a Pokemon I have gone back and forth with here. On one end, Phanthump tries to make friends with people in the woods. However, their efforts ultimately end up getting the people lost in the woods. Not great. One Pokedex entry even goes as far as to say “These Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died in the forest. Their cries sound like eerie screams.” Really, I made this list assuming anything talking about dead kids in a kids game would make the list. I was thoroughly surprised at how many Pokemons deal with dead kids. Truly startling.

#2 Drowzee

Drowzee used Hypnosis! | Pokémon | Know Your Meme

Trust me when I say there is plenty going for Drowzee to make him number 1. However, for tonight, he will have to settle as number 2. Drowzee’s design is offputting but it mostly looks dopey. Not really too menacingly looking. However, Drowzee is a Gen I Pokemon. We have a rich history of Pokedex entries to pull from for it. Here are some of my favorite.
“If you sleep by it all the time, it will sometimes show you dreams it has eaten in the past.”
“If you think that you had a good dream, but you can’t remember it, a Drowzee has probably eaten it.”
“It remembers every dream it eats. It rarely eats the dreams of adults because children’s are much tastier.”
“Puts enemies to sleep then eats their dreams. Occasionally gets sick from eating bad dreams.”

Drowzees are creepy, man. They seem lighthearted until they start eating your kids dreams. One thing I can totally appreciate though is the design space of Drowzee. The creators definitely looked like they had some fun writing those entries. They use Drowzee as a way of explaining some of the greatest mysteries about dreams. Such as why we forget our dreams the next day.

Here are the Honorable Mention

Gengar- I put some pressure on myself to try and squeeze the OG Spooky Boy into the list. However, while he is undoubtedly creepy at the start of the anime, he became a good friend of Ash’s and that hurt the creepy factor. Still he is the Godfather of Ghost Pokemons everywhere. For that, he will always have my respect.

Drifbloon- This Mon is super disturbed. Drifbloons take kids by their hands and just lead them off. Yeah, they literally kidnap kids presumably to kill them… (They also hate fat kids)

Duskull- I’m just going to list some of my favorite pokedex entries for this guy.
“There is an oft-told admonishment given to misbehaving children that this Pokémon will spirit away bad children who earn scoldings from their mothers.”
“It loves the crying of children. It startles bad kids by passing through walls and making them cry.”

Pokemon Shows Why Gengar is Scarier Than You Realize

#1 Mimikyu-

Team Rocket meet Mimikyu! - YouTube

The second Mimikyu was revealed, I knew this guy would make this top five. I’ve heard some good rumors revolving around this guy. Like how whatever it’s real form is, no one liked it. It chose to dress up like Pikachu so people would give it attention. Than, of course, there is this entry. “Its actual appearance is unknown. A scholar who saw what was under its rag was overwhelmed by terror and died from the shock.”. I don’t know if we’ve had an entry where someone died just from looking at it. Somehow on Pokemon’s official site, they only have Mimikyu listed at 20! Come on. This guy might be the creepiest Pokemon yet.

Check out their full list here https://www.pokemon.com/us/halloween/countdown/

Well, that’s it for me. I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let me know what you guys think are the creepiest, scariest Pokemons!

Noblesse Episode #1 Anime Review (Spooky Week)

Spooky Week is officially underway. With that in mind, we will be reviewing Noblesse, a new anime this season.

Noblesse is one of the more interesting animes I’ve seen. Mostly because I am not sure what genre of anime this show even is. I was excited to try it because I love school animes and Jessica likes shows with horror aspects. Well, Noblesse seems to check both boxes, at least on the surface. Cadis Etrama Di Raizel is a vampire, from all can gather anyway. He awakes from a slumber. His loyal and devout butler of sorts, Frankenstein (I’m honestly not sure if there is a relation or not) is worried for the well being of Cadis. So, Frankenstein founds a school to hide Cadis in. Yeah, no joke. Along the way, a guy referred to as M-21 shows up seeking refuge. Frankenstein allows him to stay as long as he works as a bodyguard. Well, the first half of the anime plays out like a school yard anime. Cadis is an ancient species and is out of touch with the younger generation.

Honestly, if this was the whole angle, I’d probably enjoy it a lot. Give me a slice of life comedy anime where a vampire wakes up from his slumber and enrolls in a school and the comedy comes from awkward interactions with students and teachers. However, I believe that is only going to be a small aspect of the anime. An evil organization full of mercenaries are closing in on the school in the backdrop. The group arrives in Japan by the end of the first episode. This leads me to believe the show is about to take an action or magic turn. I definitely do not hate that possibility.

This gets us to the second half of the show. M-21 must stay under the radar to avoid attracting the attention of those he is hiding from. However, when hooligans show up at the school yard, M-21 must show off his freak-like fighting prowess. He makes quick work of the intruders. Again, following this we are introduced to mercenaries who reveal they are targeting the school.

Now, can we maintain that lighthearted coming of age comedy vibe? I mean, sure. The anime looks like it will be set in the school for at least a few episodes, if not the whole season. With an anime about vampires, experiments, and a guy named Frankenstein, will we get spooky elements? Maybe? Technically, we do not know the full extent of anyone’s powers. Magic could certainly be in the forefront moving forward.

Episode #2 will be a big tipping point for the anime. What tones and genres will emerge as the season develops? So, I will rate this as an enjoyable first episode. However, while enjoyable, it did not give us a lot of clarity about the anime moving forward. Be on the look out for more reviews of Noblesse with hopefully more clarity.

Well, what did you guys think of this episode? Let me know below. Thank you guys for reading! Have a great day! Be on the look out for more Spooky Post.

Burn the Witch Episode #1 and #2 Review (Anime Review) – A Real Cool Anime

The title really says it all here. This is one of the coolest animes I’ve ever seen. Let’s give a little background information first.

This anime is set in London. Weird, right? Well, more accurately, it is set in Front London and Reverse London. Front London is the London we all think about when we hear London. Reverse London is more like Harry Potter. Where everything seems normal and than suddenly, there’s dragons everywhere and really cool magic.

The show is just kind of smooth. The two lead characters, Noel and Ninny, end up in Backwards London and inherit dragons of their own. They also receive gun like pipers. These piper guns are like a wizard’s conduit. And the girls have plenty of spells at their disposal. I really love this aspect of the show. I’m a big fan of magic. Noel and Ninny end up working for Wing Bind as they try to save and manage dragons that get on the loose in Reverse London.

Secondly, the show has a lot of mystery to it. There are people from the Front London that wander into Reverse London. They seem to verge into 1 of 2 types. Those like Noel and Ninny that end up working with the Wing Bind organization and those like Macy who are Watchers. Watchers have not really explained that well, or at all. There’s also the Dragonclad. They appear to be the only citizens allowed to touch dragons in this word. Lastly, there appears to be an evil organization referred to as Top of Horns. These people seem to want to kill Dragonclads.

Thirdly, this show has dragons. At first, we see Noel and Ninny’s dragons. Than we are introduced to these dark dragons that always cause the town to go into an extreme lockdown. Finally, we see Macy’s and Bruno’s dragons and these guys are legit. (Though I could not find pictures of them. Thanks internet…)

It’s really hard to explain, especially in a time crunch, but this has probably been my favorite anime of the season so far. The world is very cool. The magic is supreme, I love the main characters and the dragons are awesome. Seriously, watch this anime and see for yourself. This season only has a few new animes out but they are all real good. I’m not sure if this will end up as my favorite by the end, but it is a strong candidate so far.

Ranking Super Mario 64 Levels (Top Five Friday) Part 3

Part 3 of ranking all the Mario 64 courses. This time we will be examining the secret stages. Check out the previous parts here:
Ranking Super Mario 64 Levels (Top Five Friday) Part 1
Ranking Super Mario 64 Levels (Top Five Friday[Saturday]) Part 2

This list was tough to construct. Most of the levels are tiny, upsetting, or forgettable. Oh well, here we go:

The Wing Cap Stage

Gah, this is easily the worst level in maybe the whole game. If you miss one of the early red coins in the sky it is basically over. In perspective, the structuring of the level highlights the Wing Cap. The problem? The Wing Cap is terrible. The imposed ceiling on the Wing Cap is obvious by design. I might could continue speaking on this course, but I think I will move on from here.

Bowser in the Fire Sea

Super Mario 64 (N64) Bowser in the Fire Sea - YouTube

This might be my favorite of the Bowser stages but I do feel it also the weakest (look, us bloggers don’t have to make sense.) This is an awesome level to watch speed runners run through, but it’s so hit or miss actually playing it. I actually like the level layout fair enough and the three sections of the level flow pretty smooth. In fact, if you tried to tell me this was the best level in the game. I would not even argue with you. The fact of the matter is I simply do not like fire levels a lot.

Winged Mario Over The Rainbow

Wing Mario over the Rainbow - Ukikipedia

Simply put, it is another flying level. A lot of these secret levels were designed to highlight some of the harder mechanics. This is put on display with the fact we have 2 Wing Cap secret stages… Ugh. However, this level also highlights why Wing Cap Stage is utter trash. Now, I said Wing Cap Stage is an introduction of the Wing Cap and why it is not great in this game in particular. Over the Rainbow is so much more massive in design, scale, skill, and every other measurable metric that how can you not look back at Wing Cap Stage and see anything but simply a bad level.

Bowser in the Sky

Bowser in the Sky - Ukikipedia

Boy, I want to really like this level. I do enjoy watching people show off all the crazy shortcuts and skips in this stage. The scale is simply massive. But, I just do not enjoy the dark and unforgiving nature of this level. Now, I can not like a stage but still respect it. I sure do respect the heck out of this stage. I can fully appreciate this level without wanting to play it again. Very cool level.

Vanish Cap Stage

Super Mario 64 - Vanish Cap Under The Moat Blue Switch - 8 Red Coins - YouTube

I really wanted to squeeze this level in higher, and maybe I could have. Still, when it got to crunch time the turning platforms at the end caused the lower scoring. Remove that ending and this might have got number 2.

Metal Cap Stage

How to Get Metal Mario in Super Mario 64 (with Pictures) - wikiHow

I enjoy a lot about this course. I have been debating on if the small scale nature of the level helped it or hurt it. I guess since it cracks this high on the list, it did not hurt it that bad. I feel like I always connected with the Metal Cap simply because it is green and my favorite color is green. Maybe that is not fair. But that is how it is. Still, the compact nature of this stage helps its design. The red coins are a fun hunt in this stage. If there was a weak point, it would have to be how unforgiving the water mechanic is with new players or even an easy mistake from veterans. If you get lost in the current and end up in the moat, it is a hard time getting back.

Bowser in the Dark Sea

3D All-Stars Guide: All Castle Secret Stars in Super Mario 64

In a lot of these entries, you will read me say “I really liked this stage. I want to rank it higher.”. Not this time. I actually don’t think I like this course very much. In fact, I think I normally get as many stars as you can (which I think comes out to around 32 or so stars?) before tackling this course. However, there is no denying how iconic this course is to me, personally. Making the ascent up the “Dark Sea, was it?” collecting all the red coins, vanquishing the foes, dodging the fire and avoiding all the insta-deaths, was so nerve wracking. I cannot tell you how many times I get to 7 coins and bump my head or miss the jump and you fall right down to your death. Still no denying how much this level gave me nightmares as a kid.

The Secret Aquarium

super-mario-64-secret-aquarium - N64 Today

What a level, right? Yes, this is easily the most simple level in the whole game. But I cannot deny the atmosphere here. The windows revealing a whole new world outside their glass, the fishes swimming in the water, the calming music. Quite frankly, for as simple as this level is, it is darn near perfect. I do not have a lot to say about this level. It is just bliss.

The Princess’s Secret Slide

3D All-Stars Guide: All Castle Secret Stars in Super Mario 64

This is it, boys. This is sliding perfection. Someone answer me this. Was there a slide in a 3D video game prior to this? If so, tell me below. I am not sure why I am so fascinated with sliding levels, but dang it I am. I think it had to do with the mysticism of the timed star. Racing the clock, cutting off precious seconds where we could, riding the edges trying not to fall but go as fast as you could, just trying to beat that time limit. Than, once we discovered the jumping off the side shortcut, this level became an obsession. Since this, I have secretly (or maybe not so secretly at this point) judged every game I play on if it has a slide level or not.

Alright guys, there you have it. That’s my rankings. You probably wont agree. That is okay. Sound down below how you would rank these levels.

Next week is Spooky Week here on Dahubbz. So, start getting ready for all things spoky. I say this now so you guys have a heads up. Also, so you know we will not be concluding this series next Friday. Instead, we are kicking around the idea of “Top Five Creepiest Pokemons”. Hope that sounds cool to everyone.

As always, thanks for reading. Have a great day!
