Pokemon Remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Adding a New Type! Is This Clickbait?

Let me start by saying this is in no way bashing this article or its writer. I think it’s a great article actually. Read the original article here before reading my take on his article.

Secondly, I am making a YouTube video to correspond with this blog if you prefer the video or spoken form more. Watch it here!

Okay, so both of those disclaimers out of the way, let’s jump into it.

So this article by Comicbook.com caught my eye late the other night before bed. Many profound thoughts ran through my head. My first thought was obviously what the new type was going to be? X and Y was the last Gen to introduce a new type, Fairy. And only the second generation to do so. Johto added both Steel and Dark. I would like to think all 3 have been welcomed additions to the core typings.

All The Dark Pokemon

Secondly, I questioned why they were introducing a new type in a spin off game. Yes most remakes have been well received and I think many are excited to revisit Sinnoh. Still, it felt risky creating a new type in a remake, something that has never been done before (and stuck. Like how Shadow Pokemons never made it past the Gamecube spin off games.)

When Shadow Pokemons were a thing.

Very early on the jig is up. ” A lot has changed since Pokemon Diamond and Pearl first released in 2006, including the addition of Fairy-type Pokemon.” Starts Marc, the author of the article. “There are still a lot of questions about Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but we now know that Fairy-type Pokemon will be represented in the remake when it releases”

Screenshots from in game.

The new type he is referring to is Fairy. As anyone who has followed Pokemon with any consistency through out its last handful of installments, X and Y came out 3 generations ago back in 2013, you wouldn’t exactly think of Fairy as a new type anymore. However, the point he is getting at is Fairy wasnt out during Pokemon Diamond and Pearl’s initial releases.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl launched on Nintendo DS all the way back in 2006. Hot of the release of GBA staple Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, Diamond and Pearl were Pokemons first foray onto Nintendo’s newest handheld at the time. For those doing the math, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were released 7 years prior to Pokemon X and Y and two whole generations before.

So the first time the players traversed the wonderful region of Sinnoh, Fairy types were nearly a decade away from emerging as the newest type. So in some way, Marc is absolutely right. Fairy is a brand new type to Sinnoh. New moves, new weaknesses and strengths, and brand new strategies await those returning to the region in the fall.

However, as we have demonstrated, Fairy is far from a new typing. Thus I found the article title to be misleading. As I said, I do actual like the article. It gives historic Pokemon background and states its point and view and even mentions how Fairy types add a whole new dimension to a game some of us may have logged hundreds of hours in. I just didnt care for the name.

So if you made it this far into my article, I would like to know if you considered this title or article to be clickbait. As a good journalist, your article will always rely somewhat on clickbait. Its just the nature of the beast. I’m just curious if, after reading the original article, you found that article to be misleading. It’s a question on modern day journalism and how much can a title get away with. This is far from the worst example I’ve seen. However, as someone who does video game reviews and news topics here, I’m very interested in what my audience thinks about this topic.

Thank you guys so much reading. Have a great day!

Life Update August 26th 2021!

Hey guys, life update post here. So much has been going on since my last run of blog posts. Quite honestly, it has mostly been just living life. Nothing major or dramatic. Of course there’s always the stress of saving up money and trying to find our dream house we want to move to. But that hasn’t played a major role in hindering the blog. It certainly has played a role in effecting the Youtube Channel however.

#1 Seeing Friends and Family. Jessica and I know that soon, we wont be able to hang out with people nearly as much as we have been over the summer. As a result, our Tuesday Nights have turned into Game nights with our Co-Workers. Our last two Saturdays have been spent having Game Nights with family. We were going to stream tonight, but my Step Brother is home visiting the family so were all having dinner tonight. He is in the military and right now, if you follow any news outlet, you know that the military and foreign affairs are a sensitive subject to many, including my Stepmom. So tonight, were going to have dinner and just enjoy his company as he might get deployed for the first time in his military career. Of course, nothing is certain, but we want to make the most of tonight.

#2 Crunchyroll has been a pain in the butt. Jessica and I have not been watching a lot of anime because Crunchyroll refuses to load our episodes half the time. This is a big reason we stopped watching Tokyo Revengers even though we loved the first 3 episodes. We’ve switched over to Funimation for the time being. As a result, Random Wednesday is coming back as Random Thursday next week. This is because I’ve started showing off my comic hauls on Wednesdays! Read those here! Anyway, I am excited for it to come back.

#3 I will do a major life update when we move. I haven’t been fully transparent with everything going on in my life, but I will open up more when we move. Trust me, Jessica and I cannot wait to move. However, our last 4 living situations have not been ideal, so we really want to make sure we get this right.

#4 I’ve been gaming in most of my free time. Yes, this is hurting reviews because I’ve been putting so much time into video games when I do have free time. Though, soon enough, I will make time for the bread and butter of the blog here.

So, that’s all I’ll get into now. The blog may seem comic or video game heavy at times in the coming weeks. That is mostly because animes and mangas have not been working out for me lately. But if you enjoy the content you’ve read. Make sure you follow the blog!

Thanks for reading. Have a great day.

New Comic Book Day Haul #2

Hey guys were back with our next round of comic book pick ups!

Spider-Man Life Story Annual #1
King Spawn #1
Darkhawk #1

I picked up four comics this week. Darkhawk #1, Spiderman Life Story Annual 1, King Spawn and Thor 16 (Not Pictured). Admittedly, kind of an underwhelming and exciting week. I’m only on issue 12 of Thor so I have a long way to go on it. I’m not a huge Spawn fan but the King Spawn being a number one intrigues me. Darkhawk was a favorite of mine when I was younger, so to see him back is awesome. I only have 2 issues of Spiderman Life Story. So while I love the idea, I’m a little ways away from reading it.

So that’s my Haul! Let me know what new comics yall are reading! Thanks for reading and have a great night everyone.

Obtain Greninja for Free on Pokemon Unite today! (14 Day Log In Reward)

Greninja is now free for a lot of players who have been in logging in everyday since the game’s launch two weeks ago. Greninja is an Attacker with a difficulty rating of Expert. Grenina was a prominent all star of the X and Y era. His popularity certainly rivaled the likes of instant classics such as Pikachu, Charizard and Lucario. Making him free is bound to please a majority of the Pokemon Unite community, but it has exposed a small hole.

Look at all the characters the game has given away. Venusaur (Attacker), Slowbro (Defender), Cinderace (Attacker) and now Greninja (Attacker). And Gardevoir made noise as the first DLC character, who is also an attacker. It would be nice for them to mix in characters of other classes. This may just be personal peeve, but it is something to note. Crustle is free to obtain also, but requires a lot more work to unlock.

I’ve only got to play one match with him so far. However, I am playing with him as I type. (I just won my match too!). I’m still deciding how to use him (i.e. Smokescreen vs Double Team, or Water Shuriken vs Surf). I lost my next match by 20 points so it was very close.

Either way, let me know if you have grabbed this character for free yet! And if you have, what are your thoughts on him? Have a great day and thanks for reading!

New Comic Book Day Haul #1

This week I went calm on New Comics. I had a goal of snagging about 4 or 5 books but things did not break that way for me. X-Men #2 sold out at my shop. After flipping through Immortal Hulk 49, I was disappointed with the interior art and stylizing and general layout of the book and ultimately passed on it. With that out the way, lets look at the books I actually picked up!

Spirit of Vengeance: Spirit Rider

Here’s a character I am unfamiliar with and a series I did not hear of prior to its release today. I am a huge Ghost Rider fan and, while I am not sure how it all ties in, I had to go ahead and pick it up!

Geiger #5

Today, I rounded up all 5 of my issues so I can start reading that soon. I enjoyed issue #1 and look forward to catching up on my Geiger reading.

As I said, it was a tame week for me. I am a little disappointed I missed out on X-Men #2. However, I still am looking forward to books I picked up! Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!

Friendly Game Night!Playing Nemesis with Co-Workers!

Tonight will be my work’s first board game night. My Wife, two co-Workers and myself are staying over tonight to play the game board game Nemesis.

Maybe tomorrow’s post can be about the game itself? Anyway, were about to start so itll be a short post tonight. Have a great night and thanks for reading!

New Comics I am Looking Forward To!

A new month, new comics! Tomorrow is Tuesday and with that, new comics are on sell. Here’s some of the comics coming out this week I’ll be looking into!

X-Men#2

I have most of the Hickman run from the previous X-Men series. I’ve already picked up issue #1. Issue #2 looks good but I need to read issue 1 to see where I stand. (Very cool cover here though.)

Immortal Hulk #49

I collected this run more than I read this run. I bought into it in the late teens and early 20s as far as the issue count goes. I finally dropped it after issue 25 following rumors it would end at 25. However, apparently the run is officially ending at issue 50. As Al Ewing will be moving over to the Venom run while Donny Cates will be starting a new Hulk run. With that in mind, I will try to pick up the last two issues.

Geiger #5

Geiger #1 was a great read. Once I get Geiger #5 I plan to binge read the series! Geiger is like Fallout meets super heroes. The main character is exposed to nuclear radiation and gains super powers.

Crush and Lobo #3

This was a run I did not even know existed a few weeks ago. Crush was introduced in the previous run of Teen Titans. She is revealed to be Lobo’s daughter. I am big fan of the Teen Titans. While it seemed like the writers did not know what to do with Crush, as her lesbian identity felt forced and ultimately went nowhere, she always came across as interesting. I’m eager to see how they are handling her character now that her daddy issues get to be on full display.

Miles Morales #1 Marvel Tales

Miles Morales has been a star in recent years. He was the main Spider-Man in the hit animated movie Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse. Miles also played a minor role in Insomniac’s best selling PS4 game Spiderman before landing another lead role in the PS4/PS5 spin off Spider-Man: Miles Morales. To my understanding, this issue will reprint Ultimate Fallout #4 (His first appearance) and a handful of other stories!

So, that’s my list of books I am interested in picking up! Let me know what books you guys are looking forward to! Thanks so much for reading and have a great day!

Digimon BT5 Pre Release Weekend!

Hey guys, Digimon BT5 Battle of Omni had its pre release weekend these last few days. Admittedly, I didnt get to compete in any pre release tournament play(my store does it on Sundays when I work…). However Jessica and I bought a box.

Were going to do our own version of sealed. Were each going to open 6 packs each and build a limited deck. In our sealed format, colors dont matter nearly as much as levels. Meaning a blue LV3 can digivolve onto a Red LV4. However, effects that specifically target a color still require that color. For example Piedmon can still only revive purple Digimons.

In the coming days, expect our thoughts on the sets and our pulls from our box(es)!

More Digimon content is on the way! Thank you guys for reading! Have a great day!

Let me know how yall pre release went!
