My Five Favorite Cards From Pokemon TCG: Fusion Strike

Hey guys, let’s take a look at my five favorite Pokemon cards from the latest Pokemon TCG set, Fusion Strike. Remember, I don’t really play the TCG. I mostly collect the cards. So my list is going to be based off of art style and the Pokemons themselves. Not so much based on abilities or power levels.

#5 Espeon VMAX

Starting the list off is one of the highest presale priced cards in the set, Espeon VMAX. Admittedly, I love the art and use of color on this card. I’m just putting it this low because I know it is Jessica’s #1 pick from the set.

#4 Genesect V

Based off of art alone, this might be the best card in the set. Sadly, this one of the few old Pokemon’s I’ve never caught or owned. So I have no attachment to the Pokemon itself. V alt arts are really killer in this set though!

#3 Flaffy

Honestly, the secret rares don’t do a lot for me. Their backgrounds are boring compared to the alt art. But they still pop. And I love Flaffy a lot. The fact a middle form got a secret rare and it was Flaffy of all Pokemons is just too awesome.

#2 Mew V (Alternate Full Art)

Here again is another V alternative art card killing it! This one does a lot right in my opinion. You’ve got Mew as the Pokemon in question, which I love. The color is awesome here! And there’s several Pokemon all in the shot, a plus in my book. This card scores a near perfect score in my scorecard!

#1 Celebi V (Alternative Full Art)

A lot of what I said in the previous entry holds true here. I like Celebi more than Mew which is why Celebi edges Mew out for the #1 spot. I like the color better on Mew but the use of landscape, atmosphere and color all work incredible well. This card gives off Christmas and hope vibes which I think we can all appreciate heading into the Winter months!

So there’s my top 5. Let me know what cards you guys are looking forward too most! Fusion Strike is on sale tomorrow so be sure to grab a box or some packs!

Obtain Greninja for Free on Pokemon Unite today! (14 Day Log In Reward)

Greninja is now free for a lot of players who have been in logging in everyday since the game’s launch two weeks ago. Greninja is an Attacker with a difficulty rating of Expert. Grenina was a prominent all star of the X and Y era. His popularity certainly rivaled the likes of instant classics such as Pikachu, Charizard and Lucario. Making him free is bound to please a majority of the Pokemon Unite community, but it has exposed a small hole.

Look at all the characters the game has given away. Venusaur (Attacker), Slowbro (Defender), Cinderace (Attacker) and now Greninja (Attacker). And Gardevoir made noise as the first DLC character, who is also an attacker. It would be nice for them to mix in characters of other classes. This may just be personal peeve, but it is something to note. Crustle is free to obtain also, but requires a lot more work to unlock.

I’ve only got to play one match with him so far. However, I am playing with him as I type. (I just won my match too!). I’m still deciding how to use him (i.e. Smokescreen vs Double Team, or Water Shuriken vs Surf). I lost my next match by 20 points so it was very close.

Either way, let me know if you have grabbed this character for free yet! And if you have, what are your thoughts on him? Have a great day and thanks for reading!

Gardevoir is now on Pokemon Unite!

It’s been a very exciting week for Pokemon fans on Nintendo Switch! Pokemon Unite just got its first major DLC in the form of a new character, Gardevoir!

I have many mixed thoughts about this addition. First, I love Gardevoir. Her design is very majestic and intriguing. She was catapulted in popularity by the fact one of your rival’s, Wally, in Gen 3’s Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire uses her as his signature Pokemon. This helped her stand out as an iconic member of Hoenn’s cast.

Now let’s look at her stats.

Gardevoir is a ranged attacker with a difficulty ranking of intermediate. Her offense is off the charts. I’m not sure if she is the strongest character in the game but she is close. Sadly, the rest of her stats are abysmal. Players will have to truly maximize her ranged attacks and fleeing battle items to prolong her longevity.

It’s true her Pokemon Unite stats closely mirror her in game stats. Her special attack is massive and her HP is brittle. However, I really wanted them to lean into her high special defense and access to her psychic movepool to make her a support role. Her HP (in the mainline games) is probably too low to make her a defensive role. And Mr. Mime already exist as a psychic support character. And well, Gardevoir is just not good enough to be a speedster or all around character.

This has me a little split on how to feel. My initial thought was I wanted Gallade or Alakazam as a the psychic attacker. I think we can still get Alakazam as a speedster but I’m not sure about Gallade. Maybe Gallade can be an all around character? Though I really wanted Mewtwo as an all around psychic type.

Either way, Gardevoir is a welcome addition to the roster. Though I do wonder if her inclusion automatically rules out other psychic attackers. I dont have the coins to buy her yet and also theres other fighters I want more currently. But I’m interested to see how people build her over time.

Blastoise and Blissey will be added at later dates so stay tuned! Thank you guys so much for reading. Have a great day!

Unlock Zeraora in Pokemon Unite! Early Access Bonus! Dont Wait!(Nintendo Switch)

Hey everybody. Pokemon Unite released Free to Play for Nintendo Switch owners last week! We discussed our early thoughts in a previous blog post. Be sure to check that out here.

Now it is important to make sure everyone knows Zeraora, one of currently 20 playable characters, is free for a limited time as an early adopter bonus. If you love Pokemon, MOBAs, or are just looking for something different to play, there is no reason to miss out on this electric heavy hitter.

Zeraora’s Pokemon Unite stats mimic his in game stats. He is a powerful mix sweeper with nice speed. However he is fragile. This why pairing him with a support Pokemon or the eject button battle item can go a long way in providing longevity to the electric glass cannon.

I’ve used Zeaora early on with a sub optimal build , but he is still nonetheless very fun to play with.

Let me know if you’ve taken advantage of this deal and scored the Sun and Moon legendary for free! Thanks for reading and have a great day!
