Today’s Theme: Favorite Side Quest

The Legend of Zelda is different from the traditional RPG in many ways. From  no class system, to rarely using a level up system, Zelda is more of an Action Adventure game in a lot of ways. The way they handle side quest is no different.

Instead of just throwing 8 billion side quest at you for random amounts of EXP, Zelda limits to it a few with varying degrees of rewards. A majority of the side quests are just collectibles like heart pieces, songs, and masks. A handful of others are quest to get better swords(Tempest Sword[LTTP] Big Goron Sword[OoT] Razor Sword [MM] and a few more].

I scratched my head and went back and forth and back and forth. I originally was going to do the Big Goron sword. This was an aspect that stuck out to me about Oot. I quickly changed my mind, because, well I do not actually enjoy this side quest. It is just infamous to me.

Than I was going to the Couples Mask aka Kafei’s Quest. Alas, this was just one of those nostalgia side quest, that I did not actually enjoy that much. The reward was substantially less than the big goron sword, but the sense of satisfaction was high (I talked about this in my Majora’s Mask Top Five Mask post. Check it out!)

Who can forget the hilariously awesome trading side quest from Links Awakening!  Anything with Yoshi is almost an auto include.

Finally, I made my decision: Gold Skulltulas

This was a huge collectible side quest in Ocarina of Time. It made me constantly on my toes. In every village, house, and dungeon listening for that eerie and unmistakable slithering on the wall. It does not hurt to be constantly rewarded for your efforts either. From wallets, rupees, and even the stone of agony.

The gold skulltulas return to Majora’s Mask in a cool and different way. The concepts the same(collectibles) but instead, they are all inside the gold skulltula house instead of all over the world.

So, what your favorite side quest in the series? Let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Ushio and Tora

Ushio and Tora is an anime based of the manga with the same name written by Kazuhiro Fujita. The anime is directed by Satoshi Nishimura and ran through MAPPA studio.

This series ranked two on my most anticipated anime of the summer. In short, it lived up it.

Spoilers: Minor spoilers just involving the first episode.

Plot: Ushio is a young boy who is left to look after his dad’s temple while he is away. Upon cleaning, he falls into a basement where he meets a demon trapped by the beast spear, the one his dad had been telling him about. Here in the basement with the exchanging of dialogue between the two, I knew I was going to love this anime. An unlikely of bonds is formed when Ushio must unleash the demon to save his friends. The two will now attempt to work as a team to stop the remaining demons Tora’s demonic aura attracts.

Characters:My favorite part of the anime. I will just be talking about the two title characters. Ushio is a lovable main character. He is very funny, loves his friends, and is actually quite fierce. He never truly seems scared of Tora. In fact, he quickly takes control of him. Tora is hilarious for an “evil spirit turned good guy by force” character. I am absolutely amused by their dynamic together and can’t wait to see them grow has demon hunters.

The World: It is pretty standard. The fantasy aspect of it comes from Tora’s aura attracting evil spirits.

Recap: My favorite anime so far, I wish it was already done so I could just watch all the episodes at once. Watch this anime if you’re into action anime with comedy. Lets break it down by category:

Action: There wasn’t action until about 20 minutes into it, but that’s okay. It was awesome and I know future episodes will have great action as well.
Romance: You get the sense of love triangle between Ushio, Nakamaru, and Inoue. I haven’t read the manga so I don’t know what develops but my money is on Ushio and Nakamaru.
Story: The story may not be groundbreaking but I’m definitely into it and sets up for an awesome story.
Characters: Ushio and Tora alone are awesome. I hope Nakamaru and Inoue play larger parts in later episodes.
The World: As mentioned, the world doesn’t seem any different from your average anime other the fact there are demons on the loose.
Humor: Hilarious anime. It doesn’t just rely on them two bouncing off each other. Ushio is pretty funny by himself and when he is around Nakamaru they’re funny as well. Definitely a strong point.
The Ending: Maybe the best ending I’ve seen from the summer animes. It ends on a high note and has me so beyond pumped for episode two.

Verdict: Anybody who loves a great action show with funny characters to go with it needs to watch this. It has been my favorite summer anime. Go watch it.

What I want from E3

E3 is just around the corner, so to honor it heres my Wishlist for E3:

Star Fox: I am ready to see what Nintendo rolls out in general, but I am interested to see some Star Fox news. I havent played a Star Fox Game since the N64, so I am very interested to see what the new one will be like.

Fall Out 4: The game will undoubtedly be epic! I am currently playing New Vegas for the first time and loving it, so I am sure 4 will only improve on a series that seems to be doing pretty darn good!

Resident Evil: Resident Evil 1-5 were golden, and Six was alright. Capcom has been intentionally leaving the RE series off of E3 to make sure they got it right. Well I need more RE in my life and soon. I would be nothing less than excited to see some footage of RE 7. Preferably they will find a nice blend of survival horror like the first three with the nice action vibe of the last two. 4 wouldve be absolutely perfect if they hadnt have done the plague idea. Basically if RE7 plays like RE4 but with Zombies it will be perfect. Make it happen Capcom!

Yoshi’s Woolly World:  I have literally lost track of how long ive been waiting for this game to come out! It will be all I play once it comes out. It looks cute and a like good way to waste hours on end. Enough teasing, I want an official release date and I want it to be this summer. Lets go.

Zelda Wii U: I AM SO READY FOR THIS GAME. I am actually okay with the push back. It just means Nintendo is taking their time to make it right and that is okay with me. E3 though, better give me plenty of Zelda news and updates. I am beyond pumped !

And of course, I am always interested in learning about games I have never seen or heard of. I am ready for all the secrets and big announcements. I ready to discover gems. I am ready for E3. It is going to rock!
